A doctor from Philadelphia who has been working as a librarian at Princeton University but known globally for his scholarly work has died following a pedestrian crash in Scotland. William Noel, 58, was struck by a Citroen Relay van in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 10 in Edinburgh, police in Scotland said. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died of his injuries on Monday, April 29, police said. Suicidal Man Hospitalized After Walking Into Route 46 Traffic: Responders
A suicidal man was hospitalized after responders said he deliberately walked into Route 46 traffic in Little Falls early Monday afternoon. The 33-year-old man, who they said spoke only Spanish, was struck near the Browertown Road exit -- apparently after some type of domestic incident -- shortly before 1 p.m. May 6. He was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson with serious bodily injuries. Little Falls police interviewed witnesses, notified the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and were seeking area surveillance and cellphone video.

Officials Name Hunterdon County Hiker Found Dead On Appalachian Trail In PA
Authorities have identified the man found dead in Lehigh Township over the weekend. Raghu Kodali, 61, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, was discovered in a wooded area near the Appalachian Trail, the Northampton County Coroner's Office said. His cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, officials added.

Trapped Construction Worker Dies In NJ Trench Tragedy: Police
A construction worker was killed after he was trapped in a large hole in Kenilworth on the morning of Monday, May 6, authorities said. Around 9 a.m., the construction workers were attempting to install a storm drain in the back of the business on Monroe Avenue using an excavator when the man became trapped, Kenilworth police said. First responders attempted life saving measures but the worker, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration said it is investigating.

First responders in Hunterdon County had a cow on Saturday, May 4. Literally. A cow was rescued after being trapped in the mud, the Whitehouse Rescue Squad in Readington said on Facebook. Whitehouse Rescue Squad At 5:44 p.m., the rescue squad was dispatched to Holland Brook Road near Cole Road and discovered the cow in the mud, approximately 50 yards off the roadway, first responders said. Driver Injured When Truck Overturns On Route 80 In Knowlton:

A truck overturned on Route 80 in Warren County on the evening of Friday, May 3, authorities said. At 10:30 p.m., a Dodge truck was traveling westbound on Route 80 in Knowlton Township when it lost directional control and overturned, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Truck Fire Closes Two Lanes On Route 80: Wharton FD
A truck fire closed two lanes on Route 80 early Monday morning in Morris County, May 6, authorities said. Crews are still on scene cleaning up after the fire near exit 34 on Route 80 East in Wharton, the Wharton Fire Department said on Facebook. People should use caution in the area and plan an alternate route, firefighters said. There is no word on any injuries.
