Sleepy Hollow HS Selected To Send Team To Special Olympics World Games

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow High School, in collaboration with Brewster High School, has been selected to send a team to the Special Olympics World Games. from July 22 though Aug. 5, 2015

Los Angeles will become the global stage for 7,000 athletes from 177 countries completing in 25 sports.

Sleepy Hollow will be competing as a unified men's basketball team. A unified basketball team means that half of the team members are Special Olympians and the other half are "typical" partners. Sleepy Hollow High School announced that Felix Veloz and Min Li (Special Olympians) and Hunter Burnett and Brendan Murphy (partners) will be representing Sleepy Hollow.

Kim Kaczmarek of Sleepy Hollow High School has been selected as the head coach. 

The remainder of the team comprises coaches and athletes from Brewster High School. 

This team will be the only unified men's basketball team representing the United States. The games will be telecast on ESPN with a half million estimated spectators watching live or via television – making it the largest sporting event in the world for 2015.
