IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Drew Cohen, Peter Jones and Joey Ciccio all had pivotal wins sending Irvington to a 45-29 victory over visiting Dobbs Ferry in a high school wrestling match Thursday. Cohen (145 pounds) and Ciccio (182) pinned their respective opponents in the first period. Cohen registered his finish with two seconds remaining. Jones had a 3-0 decision over Anthony Casamo, scoring on a takedown and an escape. Anthony DiNardo, who is filling in for older brother Chris in the 285-pound weight class, recorded a pin, as did Nick DArrigo (120). Irvington coach Steve Aufiero was also pleased with Brett Pastore (170) and Kevin Degnan (195) despite the final result. Pastore dropped a 6-5 decision to Mike Boyle and Degnan was on the wrong side of an 8-4 verdict to Dennis DeLeon. Brett bumped up three weight classes to wrestle Mike Boyle, who was all-section last year in Division I, Aufiero said. Even though Brett was giving up 16 pounds he wrestled very tough and almost pulled it out. I am very proud of him. Kevin also showed a lot of heart and wrestled a great match. Dobbs Ferrys Kevin Driscoll (220), Josh Dooz (126) and Adam Rosencranz (152) pinned.
