Sleepy Hollow's Smercak To Be Keynote Speaker At Lymphoma Society Run

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow High School junior Katie Smercak has been named national honoree by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at this year’s Nike Half Marathon in San Francisco to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Katie Smercak, a Sleepy Hollow junior, will be the keynote speaker and participate in the Nike Women's marathon to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Smercak has been looking forward and planning for this event ever since she began her battle against leukemia at age 5.

Now 16, Smercak will be the keynote speaker at the inspiration dinner the evening before the race. She also has the honor of being appointed the race starter.
