Irvington Appoints Main Street School Principal

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Eileen Casey has been named Interim Principal for the Main Street School, the Irvington Free Union School District announced Wednesday.

Casey replaces Raina Kor, who was recently named the new assistant superintendent for instruction and human resources.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Casey join our leadership team,” Superintendent Kristopher Harrison said in a statement. “Her strong background, coupled with a deep knowledge base and passion for education, will quickly prove to be an asset to our district.”

Casey's term begins Aug. 20 and will last through the 2012-13 school year while the Irvington school board searches for a permanent replacement. The school district said a meet-and-greet between Casey, students and parents is in the works.

Casey served as the Superintendent of the Monticello Central School District for 13 years. Casey has also served as an elementary school teacher, coordinator of a mastery teaching program, principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum. Casey is retired.

Harrison said Casey was selected after a series of interviews with prospective candidates.

“While we were fortunate to have a number of highly qualified candidates, Ms. Casey clearly possesses the ideal balance of instructional expertise, school leadership, and warm demeanor that will be valuable in facilitating a wonderful year for the Main Street School community,” Harrison said.
