Wanted: Black Bear, Last Seen Licking Tree In Quincy (Watch)

A bear is on the lam after a chance encounter with a patrolling police officer.

A black bear was having an intimate moment with a tree in a wooded area when it was interrupted by a police officer who spotted the creature from his police cruiser on Tuesday, June 27, according to the Quincy Police Department. 

The bear was spotted behind BJ’s Wholesale Club on Crown Colony Drive in Quincy. 

The bear's whereabouts are currently unknown.

Anyone who sees the bear is asked to report the sighting to the police, even if the furry fugitive is in a remote or wooded area. 

Police shared bear safety tips, found at this site, and told the public to call 911 if an emergency response was needed.
