Long Weekend- What's Open, What's Closed

CORLANDT, N.Y. – It’s easy to forget what’s open on a long weekend. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a federal holiday celebrated the third Monday of every January. All federal service facilities are closed, as are schools.

What’s Closed

Nationwide, all federal offices are closed, including post offices and schools. This includes offices like the state Department of Motor Vehicles. All county offices, Cortlandt Town offices, and village offices on Croton and Buchanan will also be closed.

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library and the Croton Free Library will both be closed for the Monday holiday.

Many restaurants are traditionally closed on Monday, and will remain closed. Two Brothers Trattoria, The Tavern at Croton Landing, and Ocean House in Croton will all remain closed.

What’s Open

Other restaurants, like Umami Café in Croton, and Five Guys in Mohegan Lake will remain open for the holiday. The Black Cow coffee shop in Croton will also be open during the holiday.

Grocery stores, like ShopRite, Stop & Shop and A&P will all be open during the holiday, as will  most department stores.
