Ricca said Monday that two of the children in the family, who had family members visiting from Barbados, were students in the Elmsford schools and that counseling services (for any member of our community) will be available as well as additional supports.

The Elmsford Union Free School District Board of Education and administration will be working closely with the educational community to provide any support, Ricca said. "

"As you may know, a fire broke out in a home occupied by two of our students and their family on Saturday," Ricca said in a message to the school community. "Sunday morning, we learned the heartbreaking news that a two-year old family member, visiting from Barbados, lost his life in the fire."

Ricca said the two students and their family will be in the need of much support in the coming days and weeks.

"While we will keep the students and their family in our thoughts and prayers, we will also be mobilizing to assist in other ways," Ricca said. "We are able during this difficult time."

Feiner told the Daily Voice Sunday evening that he had reached out to the family and the homeowner of the Sears Avenue home that was devastated by the fire. He said he was working to help the family in any way the Town might assist.

"I sent the family an e-mail earlier this evening offering to help," Feiner said. "And, I will follow up with a letter. I have been in touch with the police and they gave the family my contact information - phone numbers and e mail addresses. In the past, after fires, I have tried helping families in a variety of ways."

Feiner said he is compiling a list of e mail addresses of people who are willing to help.

"Usually, after fires a lot of people respond immediately," the supervisor said. "Then, after a few weeks people forget about the victims. I want the victims of this fire to know that we will be there weeks, months from now. Whenever they need help."
