TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Three bids for a new Tappan Zee Bridge have been submitted to the New York State Thruway Authority by prospective design-build teams, Special Tappan Zee Bridge Advisor Brian Conybeare announced Friday.

The New York State Thruway Authority has received more than 70 boxes of documents and approximately 750,000 pages in three bids by prospective design-build teams for a new Tappan Zee Bridge.

The process of selecting a winning bid “will be open and transparent as federal procurement law will allow,” Conybeare said.

Four teams were originally chosen to submit bids for the bridge project. State officials said they received bids from three teams: the Kiewit-Skanska-Weeks joint venture; the Tappan Zee Bridge Partners, a Bechtel-Tutor Perini joint venture; and Tappan Zee Constructors.

Conybeare said the state had received more than 70 boxes of documents and approximately 750,000 pages.

“The first stage involves reviewing the proposals for completeness and compliance before the proposals are deemed accepted for substantive selection review, a process expected to take four weeks, given the massive volume of material,” Conybeare said.

Two community meetings on the Tappan Zee Bridge have been scheduled for this week. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and City Council President Chuck Lesnick will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Yonkers City Hall.

A meeting is also scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in the technology building at SUNY Rockland in Suffern.
