The unidentified man was killed around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday on Knollwood Road in the vicinity of North Manor Road in the Town of Greenburgh, said Greenburgh Police Lt. Kobie Powell.

Responding officers came upon the unresponsive man in a 2015 Honda Accord who was pronounced dead at the scene by Greenburgh Police EMS personnel, Powell said.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A second man operating a tow truck sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the Westchester Medical Center, he added.

Police temporarily closed the roadway to traffic in both directions of Knollwood Road between South Manor Road and the entrance to Westchester Community College in order for detectives to conduct an accident investigation.

The preliminary investigation disclosed that the two vehicles collided head-on while negotiating a curve on the roadway. The tow truck was traveling northbound and the Honda Accord, southbound when the collision occurred.

The crash remains under investigation. There are no criminal charges pending at this time. Knollwood Road has been reopened to traffic.
