Virginia “Ginny” Ferry Blake, 81, Of Sleepy Hollow, Former Registered Nurse

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Virginia “Ginny” Ferry Blake, 81, of Sleepy Hollow, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011.

She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Springfield, Mass., to the late Frederick and Barbara Fraser Ferry. She later married John Wilson Blake.

Blake earned her credentials as a registered nurse at Cooley Dickenson Hospital in Northampton, Mass.

She was resident nurse at a summer camp for diabetic children operated by the Joslin Clinic of Boston then became a head nurse at New England Deaconess Hospital.

She continued her nursing career in the hospital associated with the University of North Carolina Medical School, then later at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains.

She sang in church choirs in several communities in which she lived.

Survivors include four daughters, Cindy (Glenn) Zearfoss, Judy (Bill) Thaller, Robyn (John) Weingart, and Marci (Bill) Dancy; two sons, Rick Blake (Lisa Porter) and David (Susan) Blake; and 13 grandchildren.
