James M. Cochrane, 97, Of Sleepy Hollow, Former A&P Employee

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. - James M. Cochrane, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died July 24. He was 97.

Cochrane was born May 21, 1916, in Yonkers, to James and Margaret Cochrane. He served in the United States army. He was an assistant manager for A&P supermarket and retired in 1978. He was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1939.

Cochrane is survived by his children, Barbara Cochrane of Sleepy Hollow, Jean (Anthony) Gentile of Cortlandt Manor, and James (Renee) Cochrane of Hartsdale; six grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Doshma of Amenia. He was predeceased by his wife, Ella Kolarich Cochrane; and sister, Margaret Rohlfs.

Calling hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Coffey Funeral Home Inc. in Tarrytown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29 at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown. Interment follows at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
