What Should The New Tappan Zee Bridge Look Like?

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – The new Tappan Zee Bridge will have a significant visual impact for Tarrytown and other communities along the Hudson River. State officials have proposed several design options.

How do you think should the new bridge look?

For the center spans, state officials have proposed either an an arch or cables. Project director Michael Anderson noted in public hearings held last week that original plans for the bridge in the 1950s had an arch in mind.

Officials are also looking at a long or short span option, which would impact the number of columns that are used to hold the bridge up. The short span option means that there would be more columns going across the river.

Officials presented four separate renderings of the proposed bridge in its draft environmental impact statement. Which option do you like best?
