WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow were both ranked among the safest places to live in New York by by home security vendor Safe Choice Security.
Safe Choice examined statistics that included violent and property crimes in order to rank the municipalities throughout the Empire State.
The Village of Tarrytown ranked No. 11 on the list and boasted just .18 violent crimes per 1,000 and 8.15 property crimes per 1,000.
Sleepy Hollow was ranked 16th with .9 violent crimes per 1,000 and 8 property crimes per 1,000.
Overall, Tarrytown was rated as safer than 84 percent of cities in the U.S. while Sleepy Hollow is said to be safer than 81 percent.
Briacliff Manor was rated the safest place to live in New York and is safer than 98 percent of cities in America.
Other Westchester towns included Pleasantville (No.4), Rye Brook (No. 7), Bronxville (No. 8), Harrison (No. 10), Scarsdale (No. 12), Croton (No. 13), Mamaroneck, (No. 14), Hastings (No.17), Rye (No. 19), Peekskill (No. 22), Dobbs Ferry (No. 24), Eastchester (No. 25) Mount Kisco, (No. 27), Ossining, (No. 28).
