The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester and Putnam residents regarding the residency of 75-year-old Frank DeMaria, who has moved from Valhalla to a residence on Fairway Drive in Mahopac. (Note: the residence is in Mahopac, and is not Fairview Court in Carmel Hamlet.)

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned former Ossining resident DeMaria as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, DeMaria had sexual contact with four 9-year-old girls in October 2010 while he was serving as a kung fu instructor in Croton-on-Hudson. He was found guilty of three counts of felony sexual conduct against a child, two felony counts of sexual abuse, and four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

At the time the time of his conviction in 2012, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office said that the four children told investigators that DeMaria instructed them, on more than one occasion, to grab his penis, squeeze it, and pull it repeatedly. DeMaria was sentenced to seven years in state prison in February 2012. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
