Students in the Y Dance program will perform the second act of “The Nutcracker” at its annual open house at the YMCA. The performance begins at 1:30 p.m. and will last about an hour.

“It's a chance for the Y Dance program to share the holiday joy with the community,” Karenne Koo said. Koo is the executive director of Evolve Dance, a professional dance company that collaborates with the Y Dance program.

Performances will include appearances by Clara, the Dew Drop Fairy and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Students in each dance program will perform during the one-hour show, Koo said.

The open house will also raise money for the Y Dance scholarship program. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to give a $5 donation to help fund dance scholarships.

More than 50 Y Dance programs take place throughout the week and range from beginners classes to pre-professional companies.

The Tarrytown YMCA opened its fourth dance studio at the Main Street building in June. Officials say the added space helps to support the “multitude of new programming” in the Y Dance program.
