Solano, a speech pathologist, said it was a lifelong dream to appear on the game show, which he taped on March 30.

The Sleepy Hollow resident got off to a good start getting the first clue right from the category 'S' words. The clue was: legally it's a defamation of speech and Solano correctly guessed slander.

Solano showed off his knowledge of "Saturday Night Live" (Knowing Phil Hartman was the Anal Retentive Chef and Norm Macdonald impersonated Burt Reynolds), swords (that a sabre is a heavy slightly curved one edge cavalier sword) and that Adolf Eichmann was captured in Argentina. He went into the first commercial break in first place with $4800.

After the commercial, he told Trebek about the time he worked for a Long Island baseball team and did a bit where wrestler Mick Foley clotheslined him. The lifelong wrestling fan soon learned wrestling wasn't as fake as he thought.

Solano was doing well until this clue: as opposed to rolled oats, quaker oats offer this "metallic" version that has a heartier texture. He guessed steel oats, when the answer was steel cuts. He lost $1,000 and went into Double Jeopardy in 2nd place.

In Double Jeopardy, he correctly guessed that "Moneyball" was about baseball, Harry S. Truman's domestic program was a fair deal, and that en hjalm is Swedish is for helmet. He entered Final Jeopardy in third place with $7800.

The Final Jeopardy clue was: The Trans-Siberian Railway spans 5700 miles from Moscow to this port city on the sea of Japan. Solano guessed Shanghai while the answer was Vladivostok. Finishing in third place meant he took home $1,000.

"It was a whirlwind," Solano said about his appearance.
