There could also be occasional poor visibility as a result of the snow, the National Weather Service added.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday for Northern Westchester, Rockland and Putnam, where 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected.
Snow will fall mainly after noontime during a day in which there is a 90-percent chance of snow. The high temperature will struggle to reach 30 degrees, with a wind-chill factor between 20 and 25 degrees.
Snowfall will taper off Tuesday evening, but there is still a 30-percent chance of snow through 11 p.m.
Wednesday will be a mostly cloudy day with a high around 40 and wind-chill values between 20 and 30.
