Tendy is the one that should be ashamed of himself. His vendetta/ lawsuit against two Putnam Valley seniors has been in court for over 14 years with no end in sight. The only reason he wants Levy out is because he wants the job, the power, the pay. He couldn't care less about the fair enforcement of the law. View Comment
This woman is nothing but a politically correct appointee who obviously knows nothing about Putnam County history. I'd love to hear her ideas about Tilly Foster or the stone chambers or how about our individual towns like Put Valley which has a very rich history of mining and milling. Working for the Met does not automatically qualify you to be County Historian. What's her salary anyway? What are her hours? Is this another no show job? View Comment
Many thanks for all this information. I have to say that I am so disgusted with county and state government in general, that I'm going to have a hard time voting for anyone of either party. As far as I'm concerned, neither one of them is saying the right thing. View Comment
Whetsel is a phony and a hypocrite. She has done nothing while on the town board except to figure out ways to line her pockets and advance her own cause. She couldn't care less about the taxpayers and her phony "green" agenda is just a political ploy so she could access the mailing list for the PVRC which is highly unethical at best. Gouldman is a business owner and knows what it means to have to make a profit to survive. Unlike WW he exists in the real world, not the new aristocracy that Whetsel represents. View Comment
So how many of these churches and buildings are going to become mosques or Islamic centers? That's just what happened to the former Ladycliff/ Franciscan Academy in Mohegan Lake. It is now an Islamic center that teaches how wonderful the Koran and Mohammed are. The church has abandoned its Catholic followers, their churches and schools. These cardinals are nothing more than CEO's of a dying corporation. What a shame. View Comment
Only a relative/husband would take so much time to defend the indefensible, i.e. the sorry state of town government under Tendy, Annabi, et al.
No facts, no new information, as usual with this crowd, the answer is always to try and shut up anyone who sees through the BS. Pathetic. View Comment
I don't know why you have to live in the past, maybe it's just more comfortable for you than the present. Things in Put Valley have changed a lot in the last 5 years and not for the better. I really don't understand your sycophantic devotion to Jackie, (maybe you're a family member, most likely her husband, judging from your posts) but if you actually paid attention and did some research you'd see she is part of the problem, not the solution. As is so often the case with hostile commentators on online forums, their reading comprehension leaves something to be desired. I certainly have nothing against festivals and town events as they are good for business and can be a lot of fun. My main point was that we have a sitting councilwoman who would rather spend her time making believe she's an event planner while town government continues to expand exponentially in size and scope. Judging the performance of a sitting councilman/woman is not based on political "opinion" by rather by watching the trustee in action and whatever interactions are had. I have asked Jackie numerous questions and engaged with her in public debate that can be viewed on the videos of the board meetings on the town website, putnamvalley.com
I urge whoever is censoring these posts to first view the videos before removing comments.
See for yourself how she responds to questions such as "are the Parks & Rec jobs advertised and if so where?" She immediately answered, yes, they are advertised in the papers and elsewhere. That was not true as I documented by filing several FOIL requests with P&R.
So which is it- a lie or incompetence? View Comment
Note to P-10579: Jackie was not elected to be an event planner. Like I said, you can hire one for a lot less than the taxpayers are paying for her salary and benefits. The only politicians I know who are currently working on their future campaigns are DA wannabe Tendy and Jackie who has anointed herself the successor to the Bully in Chief. Besides spending 3/4 of the year working on town day, maybe you can enlighten us as to what else the council woman does as an elected official. It's sure hard to find any record of her other accomplishments while in office. Of course, with sycophants like you, she will undoubtedly get re-elected and the downward spiral will continue. Maybe if Jackie spent as much time on town government as she does on town day, we wouldn't have the out of control taxes and bloated bureaucracy that exists. The town would be much better off to hire a professional event planner instead of letting an elected councilwoman/trustee spend all her time making believe that she is one. Can't believe she is not embarrassed to admit she spends 9 months of the year working on a one day event. Shows you the level of incompetence. Wake up Putnam Valley! View Comment
If Mr. Catalina doesn't do another thing while he's in office, the firehouse referendum would be his crowning achievement. I haven't seen a lot in the press during the last year about this disastrous proposal, but the cost and maintenance are simply unsupportable. The taxpayers of Peekskill who were fortunate enough to sell their properties in the last few years, have already been paying an additional tax (I think it's 1% of the sale price) and the money is supposedly earmarked for the new firehouse. When the Mayor does his proposed audit, maybe he can find out where the money went- is it really in a separate, locked box account? Or did it go into the General slush fund? Either way, that money belongs to the taxpayers and it should be refunded to them if the firehouse goes down. View Comment
Nobody is forcing anyone to shop- we still have free choice, at least for the time being. Many people actually enjoy shopping more than sitting around all day eating and hanging out with family members whose company they might not even enjoy. There is obviously a demand for stores to open on Thanksgiving and the smart merchants are taking advantage of it. Besides which, the online Christmas/holiday rush started at the end of October because we lose a week this year with late Thanksgiving. I really don't see why you get get so upset about this- seems like a total non-issue with everything that's going on in this country. View Comment
It's about time for that hack Galef to retire. She's a perfect example of why we need TERM LIMITS. She long ago stopped caring about the taxpayers of her district, not to mention her connection to the tort lawyers who control the NYS legislature. But the voters don't know, don't care and just keep re-electing her. What a shame. Also, Galef should acknowledge the huge debt that we owe to smokers for all the punitive taxes they pay that actually funds govt. healthcare for children. Her idea is just plain stupid on so many levels. View Comment
