Motorcycles have a reputation for being dangerous, but some cities reject that characterization with strong track records for safety, according to Forbes.
There have been 55,166 motorcycle-related deaths in the last decade, a new study from Forbes said, but some cities claim a higher percentage of those fatalities than others.
Boston was named the ninth out of 10 cities with the best track records for motorcycle safety, with 6.53 motorcycle fatalities per 100,00 residents in the last decade.

A central Pennsylvania grandfather died in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Wednesday, June 1, according to a release by Pennsylvania state police.
Joseph W. Kunder, 54, was driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle southbound on State Route 501/South College Road when a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Doreen A. Tice, 47, began making a westbound turn onto King Street from the northbound lane of SR501—striking Kunder around 6:46 a.m., police say.

State Police ID South Jersey Motorcyclist, 24, Killed In Weekend Crash
Authorities have identified a motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash in South Jersey as an Atlantic County resident.
Miguel Lebron, 24, of Galloway Township, was riding a motorcycle north on Shaffer Avenue in Lawrence Township, Cumberland County, about 6:40 a.m. on Saturday when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree, according to Sgt. First Class Lawrence Peele, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
Lebron was pronounced dead at the scene, Peele said on Tuesday.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home in Vineland.

Two teenagers were injured, one seriously, when a motorcycle crashed with a car on Long Island.
It happened on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at approximately 7:45 p.m. in Copiague, Suffolk County Police said.
The boys, traveling southbound on Amerigo Vespucci Avenue on a 2007 motorcycle, failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Campagnoli Avenue and were struck by an eastbound 2013 Infiniti JX-35. Neither boy was wearing safety equipment, according to police.

Father, Son Injured During Motorcycle Crash In Area
A father and son were injured while out for a motorcycle ride after the father lost control of the vehicle and slid off the highway, police say.
The crash took place in Putnam County at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, when James Fordham, 54, and his 12-year-old son, Dominick Fordham, were heading eastbound on Route 301 near Forest Court in Kent when a car stopped to make a right turn in front of the motorcycle, said Kent Police Chief Kevin R. Owens.
Fordham attempted to stop but lost control and slid off the roadway and into a ditch and some trees, the chief said.

Funeral services are planned for a 30-year-old Putnam County native who died following a motorcycle crash in Northern Westchester.
Matthew Hickey, of Verplanck, was killed while driving riding a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle east on Kings Ferry Road in Montrose, a hamlet of Cortlandt, around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, during a crash with another vehicle, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
The crash occurred when a 32-year-old Cortlandt woman, driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Kings Ferry Road, turned left onto Hunt Avenue, but she did not see Hickey, Hicks said.
