Two lucky people (or, possibly, one extremely lucky person) can now afford as many gifts as they want this holiday season after two nearby Long Island stores both sold winning lottery tickets, lottery officials announced.
One third-prize Powerball ticket and one top-prize Take 5 ticket, both from the Wednesday, Nov. 8 drawings, were each sold at Farmingdale stores, according to the New York Lottery.
The Take 5 ticket, worth $35,596.50, was sold at One Stop Cards & Convenience, located at 296 Main Street.

Stroudsburg Shopper Snags $600K Lotto Ticket
A customer at a Stroudsburg corner store picked up a winning lottery ticket worth $600,000 early this week, state officials say.
It happened at Stroud Smoke Shop, 1115 North 9th St., lotto representatives said. The lucky winner matched all five balls pulled in the Monday, March 6 Cash 5 with Quick Cash drawing to walk away with $600,000 before taxes, they added.
Stroud Smoke Shop is now slated to receive a $5,000 bonus check for selling the prize-winning slip, officials said.

A $33 million Mega Millions Jackpot prize that was won off a ticket sold in Western Massachusetts earlier this year has been claimed, lottery officials said.
The Skylark Group Trust of Wellesley claimed the prize won in the game's Tuesday, Jan 24 drawing on Wednesday, March 1, the Massachusetts State Lottery reports.
The Trust, represented by trustee David M. Lipshutz, opted for a one-time total payment of $17,441,861 (before taxes), according to the lottery.

A Western Massachusetts man has claimed a $1 million lottery prize.
Kyle Avery, of Springfield, won the prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$1,000,000 Winter Winnings” instant ticket game, the lottery announced on Tuesday, March 8.
Avery's mother gave him the ticket to thank him for doing work on her car, MA Lottery reported.
Avery received his prize as a single payment of $650,000 before taxes.
