Three Section 1 Football Titles Decided At Mahopac High School

MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Section 1 held three championship football games on Saturday at Mahopac High School -- with John Jay-East Fishkill (Class AA), Rye (Class A) and Tuckahoe (Class D) winning titles.

John Jay defeated Dutchess rival Arlington 13-3 and will now play Section 2's Shenendehowa in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.

Tuckahoe pulled away for a 40-0 win over Haldane to take the Class D title game. Tuckahoe will face Section 9's Chester in the state quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at Dietz Stadium.

Rye downed Yorktown 35-14 in the nightcap to take the Class A title. Rye will play Section 9's Cornwall in the state quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 15 at noon back at Mahopac High School.

Our Lady of Lourdes, which won the Section 1 Class B title a week earlier at Mahopac by beating Nanuet, faces Section 9's Marlboro on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in its state quarterfinal game.

Class C Section 1 champion Woodlands, which beat Rye Neck last weekend at Mahopac, plays back at Mahopac on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the state quarterfinals against Section 9's Millbrook.
