Sleepy Hollow’s Vallo Opts for Rochester

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – Sleepy Hollow High School’s Nick Vallo, a standout quarterback and receiver for the Horsemen football team, has committed to attend the University of Rochester beginning in the fall.

“My decision was made based on of the reputation of the university, the most cost efficient, because it is difficult to send a kid to college in our economic times,” Vallo said. “The education part is the most important, and I felt this was the best school recruiting me and in the long run would help me the best over four years. I'm very excited to be a University of Rochester Yellow Jacket.”

Vallo, who has played wide receiver in his varsity career, moved to quarterback last fall. He completed 92 of 165 passes for 1,405 yards and 13 touchdowns. He expects to move back to his more familiar position of receiver at Rochester, but is open to playing quarterback again if called upon.

"The choice to play wide receiver is not discouraging or anything along those lines," he said. "I’ve played receiver more in my career then quarterback so it isn't as if I'm making a tough transition to a new position. Who knows what will happen. I may end up back at the quarterback position, only time will tell.”

Vallo was selected to the Section 1 (Westchester, Rockland, Putnam county area) Senior Bowl Game in November.
