Somers is 9-0 despite a tough schedule and led by head coach Tony Dematteo, who recently earned his 300th career win.

Sleepy Hollow (8-1) has been the surprise team in Section 1 this season and will undoubtedly play the underdog role Saturday.

In the immediate aftermath of Sleepy Hollow’s latest win against undefeated Brewster in the semifinals, head coach Steve Borys said he had little idea what to expect from the Tuskers.

He also hoped Mother Nature cooperated considering the quick turnaround.

“I have no idea. I haven’t seen anything on them,” Borys said. “We’ve got about 15 minutes to game plan. And hopefully we don’t get rained out with a nor’easter.”

Isaiah Sanjuan, the hero in the semifinals who scored two touchdowns in the final 1:36, relished the chance to face the undefeated Tuskers.

“I’m just looking for a great game,” Sanjuan said. “I know they have some good players but we’re going to make a run at it. And we’re going to have to practice really hard for them.”

Somers came through a strong half of the Class A bracket as they defeated Hendrick Hudson, 34-7, in the quarterfinals and Harrison, 28-14, in the semifinals. Sleepy Hollow routed Saunders, 34-0, in the quarterfinals before a dramatic 24-21 comeback win against Brewster in the semifinals.

The Tuskers’ semifinal win is even more significant because it came against Harrison, the only team that defeated Sleepy Hollow this season. The Huskies routed the Horsemen, 31-8, in week three.

The match-up features two teams with high-powered offenses capable of putting up a ton of points. Somers has a stable of running backs led by seniors Stefano Bicknese and Joe Lombardi, while Sleepy Hollow counters with sensational quarterback Devin Lopez and talented receivers.

The outcome likely will be determined by which team makes the fewest mistakes. The winner will move on to face the Section 9 champion Cornwall.
