Alex Laub, the tournament Most Valuable Player, teammate Nick Arduino (All-Tournament) combined for 45 points with Laub also grabbing 15 rebounds in a 75-68 victory over Tuckahoe in the championship final.

Officials renamed the tournament last year in honor of Howard Godwin, who died at his home in Tarrytown on April 1, 2012. Godwin and his wife, Mimi, a school board member, founded the tournament in 1992 as a four-team girls invitational meet. It expanded to include a boys tournament in 1995.

Mimi Godwin joined her daughter in greeting the crowds and handing out the tournament trophies following both the boys and girls games.

The Sleepy Hollow girls team was defeated by Clarkstown South 61-42 in the first game of the evening.

Sleepy Hollow Athletic Director Chuck Scarpulla said Godwin, a big basketball fan and booster of the school's athletic programs, would have been pleased with the tournament.

"All the teams played so well and I know Howard is happy about the boys winning the title and the way this event went this year." Scarpulla said. "All the proceeds from this event do to sports programs at Sleepy Hollow."

As an extra added highlight, Clarkstown South senior Laura Castaldo scored the 1,000th point of her career. Scarpulla presented the visiting star with the game ball.

Sleepy Hollow girls players Jessica Tucci and Grace Carr were named to the All-Tournament team.
