During the team's voyage to the Caribbean, the Pace Setters competed in three games against the combined Junior and Senior players of Barbados' National Team and hosted a free youth clinic for players ages 5-13.

"We're very grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the culture and history of Barbados," said Carrie Seymour, Pace's head coach. "Our student-athletes and staff enjoyed working with the 80 children at the youth clinic, and we all gained a great deal from the interaction with the kids."

With the help of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA), the Setters faced tough competition on the court, while also spending time instructing the next generation of Bajan players. The Setters were assisted on the trip by former Pace player, Celia Collymore, who helped spread word of the visit across the island through the athletic organization, Bajan Fusion. "All of this was made possible with the help of The Barbados Amateur Basketball Association and Celia Collymore (Pace '01) of Bajan Fusion," said Seymour.

At the clinic, which was held at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium, members of the Setters' coaching staff and team ran through drills and skills with more than 80 kids. Head coach Carrie Seymour also took time to speak with the youth players and parents about academics and basketball in the United States.

However, it wasn't all business for the Setters; students were given ample time to enjoy the sights, sounds and natural beauty of Barbados.

"We have a great relationship with Barbados Basketball, dating back to 1996," said Seymour. "We're looking forward to continuing to support the growth of women's basketball on the island."
