OSSINING, N.Y. -- An accomplished Ossining diver and swimmer will be taking his talents to Harvard University in the fall.
Alec DeCaprio will be swimming and diving for the Crimson where he plans to major in economics. While at Ossining, DeCaprio was a two-time Section 1 champion, four-time conference champion, four-time All-Section honor winner and four-time All-League honor winner.
DeCaprio holds the Ossining six-dive and 11-dive school records. He recently won second place at the state Boys Swimming and Diving Championships.
“Alec is the type of athlete any coach dreams of coming across,” said his coach, Katrina Baker.
DeCaprio began diving at the age six and realized how much he loved to be in the water. Each summer, he tried to learn more advanced tricks and maneuvers and his parents eventually enrolled him at a diving camp at SUNY Purchase. He also was a member of the Junior Olympic diving team before diving for Ossining.
