Local Varsity Quarterbacks Featured In State Watch List

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Quarterbacks from Mamaroneck, John Jay-Cross River and Brewster were among the top 13 quarterbacks to watch in New York, according to a story posted this week on MaxPreps.

Mamaroneck’s Bill Flatow, John Jay's Hunter Keech and Brewster's Matt Catalano were among the quarterbacks listed in the story. All three players are seniors.

Flatow, 6-feet, 1-inch and 185 pounds, threw for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns last fall. He led the Tigers to a 7-2 record. Mamaroneck's season ended with a 34-33 double overtime loss to John Jay. Mamaroneck opens its season Sept. 4 at home against Mahopac.

Keech helped John Jay to a 5-4 record last year where he showed his versatility as a passer, runner and receiver. Keech has committed to play lacrosse at Fairfield University in college. John Jay opens its season on Sept. 5 at Byram Hills.

Catalano, who stands 6-feet, 1-inch, threw for 1,690 yards and 15 touchdowns last year in leading the Bears to a 4-5 record. He also rushed for six touchdowns. Brewster opens its season on Sept. 4 at home against Hendrick Hudson.
