IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Irvington girls basketball coach Gina Maher has been named Coach of the Year by the the 2013 Russell Athletic National Women's Basketball Coaches Association District 2.
Maher has led her teams to three state championships, five straight league titles and four straight Section One Class B titles.
The girls basketball team will compete against Southampton at Hofstra University at 6 p.m. Friday in its quest for a fourth state championship.
Maher has also been named an assistant coach for the 2014 WMCA High School All-America Game presented by Nike. The game will be played April 6 in New Orleans, held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four.
