SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Sleepy Hollow will be transformed into a 13.1-mile running track on Saturday as Rivertown Runners presents the Second Annual Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon .
The race will take place throughout the morning, with the course closing at 1 p.m. Runners will begin to gather in the Village Parking Lot on Beekman Ave. at 7:30 a.m. for registration. The actual race begins at 9:30 a.m. with an awards ceremony at noon.
The race begins at the top of Beekman Avenue and will head west toward the Hudson River. Runners will wind their way to Hudson Harbor in Tarrytown and enter the RiverWalk Park at Pierson Park to run back into Sleepy Hollow along the river and past the lighthouse into Kingsland Point Park.
The race then enters Philipse Manor and Sleepy Hollow Manor, out to Phelps Hospital and then down Route 117 alongside the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. Runners will then loop around to the New York Life building and through Kendal-on-Hudson before returning to the Manors.
The final leg of the race takes runners from Philipse Manor across Route 9 up Pocantico Street and back to Beekman Avenue. Runners will have a course time limit of three and a half hours.
The course is challenging, scenic and fun, Rivertown Runners notes on its website . The course is marked by black arrows on bright green backing.
A pre-race pasta dinner will be held at J.P. Doyle's on Friday for $15. Runners who wish to register for the race on Saturday will pay $60.
