5K Charity Race Winds Through Sleepy Hollow Sunday

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – A large group of runners will race through Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow on Sunday to raise money for the Tarrytown YMCA's Julian Geach Scholarship Fund.

The Rivertown Runners is sponsoring the Tarrytown Trek 5K, which will run through both downtown areas before ending as the Tarrytown Street Fair begins. Kids and adults will compete in races, including a 1-mile fun run for kids at 8 a.m.

The 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. on West Elizabeth Street in Tarrytown, heading south behind the Washington Irving Intermediate School and circling around to Riverview Avenue. The race will continue past Tarrytown Village Hall and the Tarrytown train station, going up the H Bridge and into the Hudson Harbor development.

Runners will continue along the Tarrytown RiverWalk park before heading into Sleepy Hollow on River Street. The final stretches of the race will take runners up Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow and then south on North Washington Street.

The 5K race will end back at West Elizabeth Street.

Race funds will go toward a YMCA scholarship fund that helps students attend summer camps.

Parking is available at the Washington Irving school lot off Franklin Street and the Windle Park municipal lot by the YMCA. Runners will be able to visit the Tarrytown Street Fair after the race. The fair lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street in Tarrytown.
