TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Tarrytown Superintendent Howard Smith certainly left his mark during 11 years of service. Now he'll get his own auditorium too.
The Board of Education of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns plan to name the auditorium at Washington Irving Intermediate School after Smith, who will retire in June.
The Board of Education must formally read out the naming resolution three times before it's official.
"Rest assured, I think you have all the votes you need," School Board President B. Joseph Lillis said during a recent board meeting.
Smith is being replaced by White Plains Superintendent Christopher Clouet , who starts in July with a salary of $253,000.
An unveiling of the name will take place Monday at 8:30 a.m.
