WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac High School recently introduced its new digital textbook library, and the buzz has been spreading about the state-of-the-art technology that makes learning convenient and efficient for students.

Created in collaboration with Pearson, a provider of educational materials, technologies, assessments and related services, the digital textbook library provides Stepinac students with more than 40 academic textbooks. It is the first customized digital library of its kind. “In September, we knew we were introducing a cutting-edge program to our students, but we never could have imagined how widespread the impact would be,” said the Rev. Thomas Collins, Stepinac’s president.

“Now we have found ourselves the focus of educators across the United States. Needless to say, it has been rewarding for all of us at Stepinac to get recognition for our leadership. We are proud of how our faculty and students have adjusted to this entirely new approach to learning.”

Frank Portanova, Stepinac’s vice principal for academics and curriculum, has been managing inquiries from school districts and educators throughout the country.

“Representatives from school districts in the New York metropolitan area and beyond have even visited the school to learn firsthand how the program works," Portanova said.

"In recent weeks, faculty members from Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens and Shenendehowa Central School District in Clifton Park, New York, near Albany have visited.”

At Stepinac, students are charged a one-time annual fee of $150 and can visit the digital textbook library through a website or applications for various Androids and iPads to gain access.

For more information about the digital textbook library at Stepinac High School, call Portanova at 946-4800 or email fportanova@stepinac.org.
