The award, which was created to encourage young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is given to one student each week during the school year.

Silver will appear on WGCH-AM’s radio program and be interviewed by Lisa Wexler. The program airs every Saturday morning on WGCH-AM 1490 and showcases talented young people in the area.

Silver also will receive a plaque in recognition of her outstanding research, and Sleepy Hollow High School will display the same plaque in her honor.
