Sleepy Hollow HS Students Earn Top Spots On Math Competition Exam

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow High School students received the results for the American Mathematics Competition 10/12 exam that they recently took, and many placed in the top percentages of the exam.

Spencer Sands, Maggie Miles, and Colin Atkinson were recently named the top three scorers on the AMC 12 exam. Owen Dugan, Virginia Ruhland-Mauhs, and Diego Arias were named the top three scorers on AMC 10 exam.   

Dugan, a local sixth grade student, who earned a Young Student Certificate of Achievement, a Certificate of Distinction and an automatic registration for the AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Exam), which is the next round of the competition on Wednesday.

Sands scored in the top 25 percent of all AMC 12 participants. Dugan scored in the top 2.5 percent of all participants. Ruhland-Mauhs scored in the top 25 percent of all participants. 

Diego Arias, Nathan Gargano, Daniel Livingston, and Ilona Zamdmer scored in the top 50 percent of all participants.  Rebecca Diblasi, Arielle Edber, Zachary Goldbaum, Olivia Rudder, and Emma Sylves Berry scored in the top 75 percent of all participants. 

The following students scored in the top 50 percent of all AMC 12 participants: Colin Atkinson, Heather Brown, Jason Cai, Sara Friedman, Maggie Miles, Elizabeth Sobolik and Thomas Sobolik.  

The following students scored in the top 75 percent of all AMC12 participants: Catherine Brennan, Asa Chambal Jacobs, John Feigelson, John Galeotafiore, Diamond Gaynair, Caelan Kelley, Dan Kim, Jane Maloy, Taylor McClung, Javiera Morales, Isabella Salerni, Ringitt Samanta, Elizabeth Silver, John Titcomb, and Daniel Yawman.
