SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Members of Sleepy Hollow High’s PAW (Promoting Animal Welfare) club visited both the Humane Society of Westchester in New Rochelle and the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter.

The visit took place Friday, Jan. 15.

While at both sites, students and advisors learned more about the shelters, met the animals and dropped off some brand new toys for the cats and dogs.

The new toys for the cats and dogs came courtesy of Sleepy Hollow High’s “Snowflakes for Shelters” campaign.

Members of PAW cut paper snowflakes and sold them to students and staff to “sponsor” a pet in need.

Through all the proceeds, many cats and dogs began their new year with new toys; hopefully, they will also find homes in the months ahead.

PAW is a high school club established at Sleepy Hollow in 2013. Since its establishment, it has raised money for local animal shelters, the Wildlife Conservation Society’s 96elephants campaign and the Catskill Farm Sanctuary. It has also held supply drives to benefit the Westchester Pet Food Pantry, and volunteered at the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary.

To learn more about PAW, please contact Bonnie Berry and Samantha Horn at 914-332-6201 or bberry@tufsd.org and shorn@tufsd.org.
