SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- The Interact Club at Sleepy Hollow High School received the Charity Champion Award presented by Optimum Community, at a recent Rotary Luncheon at JP Doyle's Restaurant in Sleepy Hollow.
The club was presented with $500 to further its fundraising efforts, as well as $1,000 donated to the Tarrytown Rotary Club, dedicated to helping the community.
Interact Clubs brings together people ages 18-30 in universities and communities worldwide to organize service activities, develop leadership and professional skills and have fun. Rotary clubs sponsor them, but Interact members manage and pay for their clubs independently.
Sarina McGough, a teacher at SHHS, oversees the club. Charity Champions recognizes volunteerism in schools by encouraging students to compete with other area schools in raising money for a charity of their choice.
