TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Village elections may be over, but the school budget and election season is just around the corner.
Terms will expire for three school board members in Tarrytown and two school board members in Irvington.
Three-year terms for Tarrytown school board members Mimi Godwin and Craig Laub, along with school board president B. Joseph Lillis, will expire on June 30.
Three-year terms for Irvington school board member Robyne Camp and school board President John Dawson will expire on June 30.
Residents in the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns district who wish to run for a position on the school board must be nominated by a petition of at least 25 qualified voters in the district. The petition must be given to District Clerk Nelly Valentin no later than 5 p.m. on April 16.
Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents who want to request a proposition vote must be submitted in writing to the school board by 5 p.m. on April 16. Proposition requests must be signed by at least 25 school district voters.
Residents in the Irvington School District who wish to run for a position on the school board must be nominated by a petition of at least 29 signatures, according to District Clerk Elaine Cardea. Petitions must be received by April 16.
The school board of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns will hold a public hearing on their 2012-13 budget at 8 p.m. on April 24 in the district's administration building. The Irvington Board of Education will hold a budget hearing at 7:15 p.m. on May 1 in the Campus Presentation Room at Irvington High School.
