POCANTICO HILLS, N.Y. – The Pocantico Hills Central School District school board appointed Dr. Marilyn Terranova as interim superintendent, effective Jan. 4, 2016.
Terranova replaces Dr. Valencia Douglas, who will effective Jan. 3.
Terranova has worked for more than 22 years as a school superintendent in New York State, most recently as superintendent of the Eastchester and Carmel school districts. She has also served as a staff and curriculum development coordinator; teacher/coordinator of gifted and talented programs; reading specialist and classroom teacher. She holds degrees in Early Childhood & Elementary Education (SUNY Fredonia) and Reading (Virginia Commonwealth University); her M.S. and Ph.D. are in Educational Administration & Policy Studies (SUNY Albany).
Board of Education President Emily Segal said “I am extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Terranova to our district… Her previous work at Eastchester and Carmel demonstrate her effectiveness as a leader of teachers and staff, and her commitment to the academic growth and achievement of all children.”
