The fall crops at the Irvington Middle School garden have sprouted, and health teacher and Green Club adviser Luann Ricciardi said the garden’s radishes, lettuce and sugar snap peas have begun to grow.
Middle school students, who are caring for the garden, recently spent time thinning seedlings and transplanting each tiny plant.
Ricciardi, who oversees the garden, said the students examined the vegetables’ roots and learned about planting depth and spacing. She also has been teaching her students how to best care for crops in cool weather.
