Irvington Students Get Creative In Astronomy Class

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Sixth-graders at Irvington Middle School recently created a model of the Big Dipper as part of their astronomy studies, according to a press release from the Irvington Union Free School District.

The lab activity also incorporated math skills, which the students used to build a scale model of the Big Dipper using straws and clay.

The project allowed students to gain a better understanding about not just the Big Dipper, but also the universe, according to the press release.
