IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Two public forums have been set to help the Irvington school district profile its next high school principal.
Search officials will meet with parents and other community members at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the campus presentation room at Irvington High School. A second forum has been planned for 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Irvington Public Library.
The new principal will replace Scott Mosenthal, who is retiring at the end of this year after 37 years in the district.
“As 'Dr. Mo' plans for his retirement, we are faced with the challenge of finding our next high school principal,” the district said in a statement. “In planning for this change, we are asking for your participation as we prioritize and create a leadership profile for the Irvington High School Principal. Over the next two weeks, we will hold two open forums as a way to develop a leadership profile which will guide our search process.”
Students in the school district will get the chance to provide input in the search process during a meeting from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the campus presentation room.
Mosenthal began teaching in Irvington in 1975 and has served as principal at Irvington High School for the past 14 years.
The Irvington Board of Education expects to interview and hire a replacement by April 23, with the new principal beginning work in July. Interviews with Superintendent Kristopher Harrison, Assistant Superintendent Raina Kor and a search committee will take place in February and March.
