Irvington School Election Set for Tuesday

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Residents in the Irvington Free Union School District will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on the proposed 2012-13 budget and two board of education members..

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voting takes place at the Main Street School.

Incumbents John Dawson and Robyne Camp face challenges from Robyn Kerner, Maria Kashkin and Della Lenz for their seats on the board. Trustees serve three-year terms.

The proposed $51.2 million budget would raise the tax rate by 3 percent. You can read more about the proposed budget on The Daily Tarrytown.

The proposed budget falls within the new state tax cap so a simple majority is needed for it to pass.

A special meeting of the board of education will take place at 9:15 p.m. in the Main Street School auditorium to certify the election results.
