Senior Connor Winton, juniors Max Kerner and Jordan Schwed and freshman Rishikesh Madabhushi competed in rounds of buzzer-based history questions and ended the day with a 6-4 record.
The team placed sixth out of the 21 participating public schools from across the U.S.
“Connor, Jordan, Max and Rishi did a wonderful job and should be very proud of themselves,” said Academic Challenge club advisor Alison Zerbo. “They have worked very hard on their own and during practice, and this was a great opportunity to show off their skills. They came out of the day with a winning record and, more importantly, had a great time. They were wonderful competitors, they were friendly and gracious to the other teams, win or lose, [and they were] serious when needed, but also enjoyed themselves by injecting humor and fun into the day.”
Schwed also scored 18 points and placed 137th in the National History Bee championship.
The championship took place in Arlington, Va. on Saturday, April 23.
