The meetings will allow parents to become familiar with the school’s course offerings and the honors selection processes. Students will meet with their guidance counselors in March to decide about next year's courses.

Parents of eighth- and 10th-graders are invited to begin the night in the cafeteria, where the evening's structure and logistics will be discussed. Then parents will attend four unique sessions organized by grade so the information and conversation address students’ needs.

The four sessions will be structured as follows:

  • Math and science
  • English and social studies
  • World language, art and engineering
  • Counseling and administration

The school recognizes some families in Irvington include both eighth- and 10th-grade siblings and that the structure may create some unique challenges. Families experiencing this issue should contact their child’s 10th-grade guidance counselor to arrange for receiving all necessary information.
