IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Main Street School fourth-grade students visited Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills last week for the first of their three visits this year.
During this fall visit, students investigated food production on the farm. They were involved with a variety of organized hands-on farm chores to provide them with perspective of how people interact with their environment.
Students examined how food harvested to becomes the food we consume. Students also learned about the different farm animals and their role in a sustainable farm.
To ensure the success of this project, students discussed and reflected on their visits to Stone Barns following the visit. Educators anticipate great excitement and success of this project throughout the year.
