TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Gina-Marie Fonte has joined Transfiguration School in Tarrytown as its new princial.
Fonte has more than 30 years working as an educator. She is a graduate of St. John’s University with a B.A. in English Literature and a M.S. with a concentration in Childhood Education and Teaching Students with Disabilities.
Before joining the Transfiguration School, Fonte worked as a teacher at Our Lady of the Assumption School in the Bronx, where she has taught both on the middle school level and in the Early Childhood program, in addition to establishing development for faculty and taking an active role in the many school and parish events.
In addition to her work at Our Lady of the Assumption School, Fonte taught in the middle school program at Saint Thomas Aquinas School in the Bronx.
Since joining the school in the September, Fonte has been busy introducing several new programs to increase the already impressive test scores such as the Raz kids reading program, Xtra Math and increased Right To Intervention (RTI) for students in need.
In addition, a new early education floor has been created to grow the PreK 3 and PreK 4 programs, a new STEM lab and new computer center. She has also established new service programs and social events such as “bucket fillers” a school wide initiative to encourage students to be good citizens, a lower school pumpkin patch, movie nights and father-daughter dance.
“I am excited to the join the Transfiguration community and continue the mission of providing a Catholic education in a competitive, family-centered and fun environment,” Fonte said. “The faculty, students and families are an amazing party of this school and I look forward to working with them to continue to grow our school.”
