The group plans to host a charity tag sale this Saturday at the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns, with all proceeds going to help pay for the needed surgery that will save his life. The tag sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“My friend, Masha, is a friend of Demnyan's parents and she knows how desperate they are now while their son is facing the death every single day,” Linh Tran said. “She just played with him last winter and now he is dying. We are here not to talk about changing the world. We are here to talk for a boy whose life may be saved by one act of kindness.”

Shakirov lives in Zelenogorsk, and his family cannot pay for the surgery on their own. A “Help Demyan” page set up by Demyan's family notes they have already raised $161,290 of the needed $239,000.

Students hope to sell a large group of items they collected from other students at the EF school to add to the money that has already been raised. Students note there will also be a wide variety of international food for sale, cooked by students.
