Education Foundation Plans 'Best Party in Town'

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – This year's annual dinner dance and auction for the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns gives residents a chance to honor volunteerism, bid on fabulous items and dance the night away.

“The Dinner Dance is our principal fundraiser,” Foundation President Mary McBride said. “In return, we try to put on the best party in town.”

The dinner will take place on Saturday at the DoubleTree Hotel. Tickets are still available and cost $125. Residents wishing to purchase tickets should visit the foundation's website or call 914-336-8457.

The foundation will honor two active community members, Teri Levine and Rachelle Gebler, as well as the Kendal-on-Hudson retirement community.

“We're really trying to celebrate our volunteers this year,” McBride said.

The foundation chose to honor Kendal-on-Hudson this year because it helped develop an inter-generational program between residents and students to help them learn history, McBride said. She added it was a “good partnership” for the schools.

Levine helped start the Community Food Pantry at Christ Episcopal Church and sits on the board of the Kids' Club of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Gebler is also a Kids' Club board member and has been active in the EPTA of the Tarrytowns and the Community Food Pantry.

The event will feature “a long period of hearty appetizers and cocktails” alongside a silent auction , McBride said. A live auction and dancing will take place during dinner.

McBride noted the auction will feature some big prizes, such as a South Africa safari, a weekend at the Peninsula Hotel in New York City or tickets to the “Book of Mormon” Broadway show.
