Violinist Clara Montgomery will participate in the string orchestra, and trombonist Ethan Weinstein will participate in the wind ensemble.

Last year, more than 6,500 sophomores and juniors across the state auditioned, with only 900 students getting selected to participate in the conference.

“They are hardworking and extremely dedicated to their craft. It is such an honor for them and for our district that they have been chosen to participate," said the students' high school music teacher, Debra Tuzman.

The festival will take place at the Rochester Convention Center from Dec. 3-6.
